Renezeder Grabs Three Podium Finishes on Grabbers

Jun 03, 2014

Armed with plenty of horsepower and their GRABBER’s, Team GT traveled to Reno, NV for Rounds 5&6 of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) competition last weekend. The series raced for the first time under the fluorescent lights of Wild West Motorsports Park and the high speeds and massive elevation changes proved to be mountains for some and hills to others. Several Team GT members had strong showings early in their respective races but mechanical issues and quick maneuvers on the track pushed them off the podium. Current Pro-4 champion, Carl Renezeder, earned a second-place finish in Pro-4 racing after Kyle LeDuc barely edged him out.

Saturday’s Round 6 battle was more lucrative for Team GT as they took four podium finishes. The Pro-2 race was nothing short of a fracas full of contact, spins and mechanical heartbreak. Coming from mid-pack both Renezeder and Robby Woods methodically worked their way through traffic to assume two-thirds of the Pro-2 podium. Renezeder captured his second, second-place finish in the No. 17 Lucas Oil/General Tire Nissan and Woods took third in the No. 99 General Tire/Carlyle by Napa Chevrolet.

Other weekend highlights came in Pro-Lite and Pro-4 competition. Team GT newbie, Jimmy Fishback, finished a career-best second in Pro-Lite after a hard-fought battle through the crowd. And three was a charm for Renezeder as he posted his third, second-place finish of the weekend. This time in Pro-4 after a sprint to the finish under green-white-checkered conditions. Once again barely edged out by rival driver, LeDuc.  Just behind Renezeder, in fourth, Team GT teammate, Doug Fortin, posting his best finish of the year.
