Bright Side of a Partially Rained-out Racing Weekend

When was the last time you heard of an off-road race being rained out in Southern California? Against all odds, Rounds 9 & 10 of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing at the Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, CA, ran into some rain delays as the skies let loose and dumped down on the course and grandstands. Saturday’s (July 18th) Round 9 race ended up being postponed until Sunday, creating a double-header for Sunday that was set to be action packed.

Sunday (July 19th), Round 9 went off with sunny skies overhead and some great action on the track as Carl Renezeder grabbed a 2nd place finish in Pro 2 racing, and Jerett Brooks scored a 3rd place finish in Pro Lite racing.

With two good finishes to already speak of, General Tire was looking forward to see what else our race teams would bring home from Round 10 this weekend. Unfortunately a dark front came over the hillside toward the track around 4pm, foreshadowing what we were about to get. The clouds grew darker and the rain came down in record rainfall for the area. It was a win for the area and local residents who desperately needed the rain, but it meant a cancellation of Round 10 of LOORRS racing.

Congratulations to Carl Renezeder and Jerett Brooks for their podium finishes this past weekend!
