If you have followed any type of professional bass fishing in the United States over the past couple of years, you may have noticed the General Tire logos seem to pop up everywhere. Well, there’s good reason for that. We have partnered with some of the most talented anglers and prominent fishing series in an effort to support the sport and to introduce our tires to all the fishing enthusiasts who make the sport so fun.
On the B.A.S.S. side of the house, we sponsor four talented anglers who compete in the Bass Elite Series. Skeet Reese, Edwin Evers, John Crews and Britt Myers are all part of Team GT and have all won at this level of the sport. You may have seen Skeet and Edwin in our series of television commercials. They just might have a second career in acting if they choose to once they decide to put their poles down. You can see their acting skills during many of the fishing shows on television or on the General Tire You Tube channel.
For the past two seasons, General Tire has been a series sponsor of the FLW Tour. If you’ve attended any of their great events around the country, you have seen our huge inflatable arch at the boat ramps and the General Tire boat that often carries the American flag during the National Anthem. Two great veteran anglers on the FLW Tour fly the GT colors - Mark Rose and Bill McDonald. Mark came out swinging early in the season by winning the first two tournaments of the year. That was an impressive way to kick off his year.
Our longest bass fishing partnership has been with Major League Fishing. General Tire joined MLF soon after its creation in 2011. The unique fishing series is made for television and provides some of the most exciting fishing coverage ever seen. There are no practice days, no limits on the number of fish weighed and a real-time leader board is posted so everyone knows who has the lead throughout each event. Many of the Bass Elite and FLW Tour anglers participate in MLF. This past season, General Tire helped create the all-new General Tire World Championship which aired on CBS for six consecutive Saturdays in June and July. You need to watch one of these events if you’ve never seen one. You can do just that as Discovery Channel will air MLF events each Saturday morning between now and the end of the year.
So, there you go. If you thought you saw the GT logo in a few different places around the world of bass fishing, you did. We’re very happy to support such a great sport full of dedicated enthusiasts who need reliable, quality tires to get them to and from the boat ramp.
