Fort Mill, SC – June 22, 2015.
This past Father’s Day weekend was a good one for Team GT at the Miller Motorsports Park for Rounds 7 & 8 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. Not only did we get to see a number of fathers and sons of our team racers, but we were also treated to six podium finishes in all by our talented drivers.
The relentless Carl Renezeder brought home one second place win and two third place wins this weekend—one in Pro 4 and two in Pro 2—after coming back from some engine troubles in Saturday’s Pro 4 race that kept his Pro 4 truck from competing on Saturday.
Up and coming behind-the-wheel superstar Jerett Brooks also made quite a showing with a first place finish in Saturday’s Round 7 of Pro Lite racing, and then podiumed again in Round 8 with a third place finish on Sunday.
Rockstar and General Tire driver Ryan Beat also put his Pro Lite on the podium, with a third place finish in Saturday’s Round 7 of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing.
Considering the awesome competition that these guys have to deal with out on the track, we felt it an honor and a privilege to see Team GT go home with so many wins this weekend.
Congratulations to all our team drivers for raising their points standings this weekend at the Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.
Ryan Beat took third place in LOORRS Round 7 racing at the Miller Motorsports Park on Saturday.
Carl Renezeder captured one second place win on Saturday and two third place wins Sunday. Saturday’s Pro 4 race did not start off well, with Renezeder’s #17 truck having engine trouble in qualifying that kept him from competing. But later that day, Renezeder went on to take a second place finish in his Pro 2 truck
“Relentless” is such a great description for Renezeder. After having some issues Saturday, his team worked on the Pro 4 truck through the night and had it ready for Carl to take a third place in it on Sunday.
There was no shortage of sons and fathers on this Father’s Day race weekend. While off-road racing families are usually a tight-knit group, this past weekend’s race seemed to bring out an extra helping of family support. Jerry Dougherty’s Live Fast Play Dirty Motorsports pit was filled with all ages of inquiring eyes prior to the race
Thanks to Ray Griffith and his dad for taking a moment to pose for us. Yeah, we totally set up this shot with the bedside and GT logo…but it looks nice, doesn’t it?
Robby Woods came flying out in the Carlyle truck with determination to move up in points standing this past weekend.
Father’s Day’s Round 8 race proved to be even more fruitful for Team Renezeder. He took home third place finishes in both Pro 4 and Pro 2.
Doug Fortin raced hard this weekend, but odds were against him with a back-of-the-bunch start on Sunday due to a carb issue that kept him from qualifying that morning
Tire grooving and cutting is done right at the race track. Why not just be prepared and do it before you get to the track? Well, different track conditions call for different grooving patterns, so a team may not know exactly how they want their race tires cut until they get to the track and see/feel the condition of it.
We loved seeing all the fathers and sons who attended this weekend in support of their sons and fathers. Plus it gave us the pleasure of meeting some of the men responsible for such great racers.
Jerett Brooks had a good weekend. A first place finish on Saturday’s Round 7 guaranteed a happy driver going into Sunday’s Pro Lite race. Sunday, Brooks pulled off another podium finish behind only RJ Anderson and Brandon Arthur.
He’s not even of legal drinking age yet and Jerett Brooks is already racking up win after win. Brooks has a long racing career ahead of him and we’re looking forward to seeing what else he can do!
Waiting in the pits for the next race can sometimes be…the pits. When you’re ready, time between races seems to drag on forever. When something is wrong, there is almost never enough time between the races.
Games are played throughout the weekend at the General Tire booth. Simple skill and luck games can win you some cool prizes so check it out the next time you’re at the races.
Another up and coming racer to watch out for is Ryan Beat. Beat is no newcomer to racing, but he’s still young, and is responsible for running his own team. We’re eager to watch Beat’s racing career flourish and he gains more experience. But that might be bad news for other drivers though, as Ryan already grabbed up a third place finish in Pro Lite on Saturday.
