Over 350 Race Teams Expected to Take On Best In The Desert’s General Tire “Vegas to Reno”

With just a week to go before the green flag drops on “The Longest Off-Road Race In The United States”, 346 race teams have already signed up to participate in this year’s epic running. The General Tire “Vegas to Reno” Presented by FOX long distance off-road desert race continues to be one of the most popular events on Best In The Desert’s schedule, drawing homeland and international racers in all classes of Cars, Trucks, UTVs, Motorcycles and Quads. From high-dollar race teams to individual privateers, “Vegas to Reno” is one of those adventures of a lifetime that is marked on everyone’s calendar.

Operations Manager Donald Jackson had this to say about the great turnout for the race so far, “I am ecstatic with the entry approaching 350 vehicles. With 47 Trick Trucks and another record breaking 88 UTVs for ‘Vegas to Reno”, I couldn't be happier with the early entry numbers. Speaking of numbers, we are presenting some of the best course sections ever compiled for Vegas to Reno in 2017. We have some sections that have not been raced on since 2007 and have not just 1, but 4 mountain passes that we traverse at over 8,000 feet. We have pulled out all the stops for this year’s event and I am so excited for the 21st annual running of “Vegas to Reno”.”

Currently sitting at second in Trick Truck points, Steve Olliges hopes to gain ground on points leader Jason Voss at "Vegas to Reno". For 21 years, Best In The Desert has been promoting an off-road desert race over 500-miles long from Southern Nevada, Las Vegas, to Northern Nevada, Reno. “Vegas to Reno” was the favorite of Best In The Desert founder Casey Folks as it marked his first race where he included car, truck and quad race vehicle classes to the already established motorcycle classes. The General Tire “Vegas to Reno” presented by FOX is a fantastic race that has everything a racer could dream about; from high elevations of the mountains to vehicle swallowing washes of the dusty desert floor and 100-mile per hour dry lakebeds. In fact, racers will even be crossing over parts of the famous “Pony Express” route. “Vegas to Reno” features every kind of challenging terrain imaginable. Few sports require so much of an athlete – physically, intellectually and emotionally as “Vegas to Reno”. Just to finish this incredible race provides tremendous personal satisfaction and sense of accomplishment.

A record number of 88 UTVs have already signed up for this year's General Tire "Vegas to Reno" presented by FOX.
