Sheldon Creed and team owner Matthew Miller locked up the 2018 General Tire Superspeedway Challenge championship with their second-place finish in the ARCA Racing Series ModSpace 150 at Pocono Raceway July 27. Creed left Pocono with an insurmountable 300-point lead over second place Riley Herbst and team owner Coy Gibbs. There are only 235 points available in the season's only remaining superspeedway event at Kansas Speedway in October.

In eight superspeedway starts in 2018, Creed has two wins and eight top-five finishes. His lowest finish of the season on a track one mile in length or longer was a fourth-place finish at Talladega.

"It's really cool to lock up the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge championship," Creed said after the race. "It is because of the hard work of all of the guys at MDM Motorsports. They put together great cars every week."

Creed's performances on the big tracks have been nothing less than stellar so far in 2018. He has finished no worse than fourth, that coming at Talladega, has two third place finishes, at Daytona and Charlotte, runner-up finishes at both Pocono races and at Chicagoland, and two wins at Michigan and Gateway. His average finish in the first eight superspeedway events of the season is 2.25. Creed has led 221 laps on superspeedways as well, and two of his three General Tire Pole Awards, Gateway and Chicagoland, came on the big tracks.

The General Tire Superspeedway Challenge is tabulated using race points only; no bonus points are included in a driver's total. Additionally, double points are awarded at the races in which General Tire is the entitlement or presenting sponsor, Daytona, Talladega, Charlotte, and Pocono.

The final General Tire Superspeedway Challenge event of 2018 is the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season finale at Kansas Speedway on October 19. That race will be televised live on Fox Sports 2 at 8:30 pm ET; ARCARacing.com will have live timing, scoring, track updates and scanner audio throughout the day's on-track sessions for registered users.
